As part of the North Shields 800 celebrations, a free Pop-Up Cinema will take place at The Beacon Shopping Centre from 23–25 October, open daily from 11am to 4pm. The event showcases a series of short films that reflect the town’s rich heritage, creativity and community spirit.
Visitors are invited to drop in and enjoy locally made films that shine a light on the people and stories that make North Shields unique. Featured works include:
North Shields Voices – A moving soundscape blending local voices and imagery to capture the town’s character.
Meadow Well Projects - Including The Phoenix Detached Youth Project’s NS800 Animation.
Helix Arts - Highlighting their work through two young people-led projects: Imagine your Future and Shiels' Ambassadors, showcasing how young people have reflected and created artworks to celebrate North Shields 800.
The Textile Map of North Shields – A collaborative artwork stitched by over 50 residents at The Old Low Lights Heritage Centre.
I Love North Shields & SIRA Studio – Documentaries highlighting inspiring local businesses and community projects, as well as the artists involved in the Elevation Mural trail.
