Parade of Boats and Blessing of the Fleet

Spectacular free celebration event on the Fish Quay

  • Organised by North Shields Fishermen’s Heritage Project

·        River Tyne filled with boats including fishing, maritime and leisure craft

·        Svitzer tug water jets display 

·        Huge procession led by three bagpipers and a popper truck

·        Singing by 300 children from six local schools

Friday 20 June, 12.30pm to 3pm

Followed by live music on Western Quay until 5pm

Gather from 11.30am

School children parading with pipers, gathering at The Herring Girl on the Western Quay singing local songs. Joined by a parade of fishing and private vessels on the river and a blessing of the fleet, with the Fishermen’s Mission.
