Join Workie Ticket Theatre for a FREE interactive workshop inspired by Norah Balls and a host of other feisty North Shields women, exploring what’s next for women in our town, 800 years on.
Made possible thanks to National Lottery players with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
As part of North Shields 800 and in alignment with the 16 Days of Action against Gender-Based Violence and Human Rights Day, we’ll dive into:
Deeds: What actions can we take to make North Shields safer for women and girls?
Words: What messages do we need to share to challenge inequality and inspire change?
Danger: What risks still lie ahead and how can we respond?
We’re also delighted to welcome Erin Parker Leonard, Director of Policy and Advocacy at Represent Women, as our special guest. Erin will share insights into the challenges and opportunities facing women and girls in the North East, including in North Shields; drawing on Represent Women’s work with organisations that support and advocate for women and girls.
Your ideas and creativity will help shape our new play, which will be performed on International Women’s Day 2026 as part of North Shields 800 celebrations. Expect discussion, creativity and a little theatre sprinkled on top.
